Ruth L. Ramkissoon MD – Caribbean Anesthesiologist
Dr. Ramkisson is a native of Trinidad, where she attended Couva Convent school. After graduating with the highest honors in 1993 she attended University of West Indies School of Medicine in St. Augustine. She received her MBBS in 1999 with honors and went on to internship at University of West Indies University Hospitals. Dr. Ramkissoon completed her training in anesthesiology at San Fernando General Hospital, Royal Shrewesbury NHS Trust, University Hospitals Birmingham and Royal Orthopedic Hospital.
Dr. Ramkissoon is board certified in anesthesia by the Royal College of Anesthetists of Ireland and subspecialty trained in chronic and interventional pain management by the Royal College of Anesthetists of Edinburgh. Unique among Caribbean anesthesiologists she is the only certified pain management specialist in Trinidad. Apart from pain management, Dr. Ramkissoon’s interests are obstetric anesthesia and anesthesia for cosmetic surgery. Being one of the few female board certified Caribbean anesthesiologists, a large part of her practice is devoted to taking care of the anesthesia needs of women.
Dr. Ramkisson is married and lives with her husband and her two daughters in Chaguanas. Ruth enjoys traveling, movies, concerts and fine dining.
